Pat is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation he was commissioned as a Naval Officer and, upon completion of flight school, designated a Naval Aviator and began his 31-year Navy career. Pat had the opportunity to fly and lead Sailors at multiple levels in his career. He started in the F-14 “Tomcat” and then transitioned to the F-18 “Hornet,” which led to a squadron combat command tour.
He then went on to command a fast combat support ship, USS Seattle, and a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln. Pat’s last tour was as Commander, Carrier Strike Group 9, where he was responsible for the USS Ronald Reagan, two cruisers, six guided missile destroyers, four fast frigates, nine aircraft squadrons, and over 7,000 Sailors. Pat also completed the Navy’s Nuclear Power School and earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Affairs from the U.S. Naval War College.
After retirement from the Navy, Pat went on to a career in consulting, coaching, and leadership development with Chevron until 2023. He is currently the President of Lakeway Airpark and a Board Member of Honor Flight Austin.
