Aviation Adventures
While in college, Dean took up flying and earned his private pilot certificate. Bitten by the aviation bug and inspired by the movie Top Gun, Dean attended Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL.

​After flight training in Corpus Christi and Beeville, TX, he earned his Navy wings and flew A-7s and F/A-18s off of aircraft carriers in the Pacific and Indian Oceans as well as the Persian Gulf. After his sea tour of duty, Dean was selected to be a F/A-18 weapons and tactics instructor at Strike Fighter Weapons School Pacific.

Personal Stories
Born in Bay City, TX and raised in Houston and Sugar Land, TX, Dean attended Texas A&M University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Finance. During his training in Beeville, he met and married his flight instructor, Tammie Jo Bonnell. They both now fly as Captains for Southwest Airlines. They have two children, Sydney who is a wife and mother, and Marshall who attends the US Air Force Academy.
