Aviation Adventures
West comes from a family of private pilots and was introduced to flying at an early age. His father, mother, brother, and son are all pilots. His father frequently flew to Mexico and throughout the Southwestern portion of the U.S. on business. West earned his private pilot's license while still in high school. After taking 12 years off from flying, he began flying again in 1991 with the purchase of his first aircraft. West is a commercial instrument-rated multi-engine pilot. He currently flies a TBM 850, which is a single engine six-place, pressurized turboprop.
Personal Stories
West spent the first ten years of his career as an investment banker focused on the energy industry. He then moved to the energy industry and spent most of the balance of his career as a sitting CFO, largely for public companies. West is unique in that he has been a CFO for upstream, midstream, and downstream oil & gas companies as well as power generation and chemical companies. He has completed multiple successful turnarounds of troubled energy companies outside of bankruptcy. He most recently successfully turned around Calumet Specialty, a public specialty chemical company. West is also certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors.
