Joe Grimes received his initial flight instruction in 1975/1976 complements of Uncle Sam at Reese AFB in Lubbock, Texas. After a few (way too few!) years flying with the USAF Reserve, Joe left the military to seek fame and fortune in the world of engineering, designing commercial/institutional buildings.
In 1982 Joe had a bout of temporary insanity and started his own engineering/architecture business. After a number of years being grounded (and modestly-solvent), the aviation-siren called and Joe purchased a classic Cessna 310.
For the last ten+ years, Joe has upgraded, polished and primped over N5332A. After all these upgrades, Joe had the desire to share the blessing of flight and Angel Flight seemed like a perfect fit. Joe tries to fly at least one Angel Flight mission each month.
“The Angel Flight home office is well-organized operation making it easy for even ex-military guys to participate.”
“One of my favorite things to do is helping others, first transporting them to where they need to go but also giving them a few moments of the peace that only comes while flying in a private airplane.”
“The truth is, I get way more out of a flight than anyone else. I get to fly and do good at the same time. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
