South Texas Regional Wing

Jim Daniell

Jim Daniell has always been interested in flying and, in the back of his mind, thought one day that might be possible. After over 20 years in the commercial real estate brokerage business, something happened that affected us all in many ways - 9/11/2001.

For Jim, he made a New Year’s resolution in 2002 to learn to fly his own airplane. At the young age of 45, he took up flying lessons. In 2004 he earned his private pilot’s license and four years later, he received his instrument rating.

In 2014 he attended the AOPA fly-in at San Marcos where he visited the exhibit hall and met some friendly volunteers handing out brochures about Angel Flight. He had heard of Angel Flight through AOPA and thought, “what a sensible and compassionate service this is.” In 2016 he was asked to take on the responsibility of Wing Leader for South Texas.

Jim enjoys spreading the word of our mission to the medical community, prospective Angel Flight pilots, philanthropic groups and the community at large.   He is working toward his 50th mission as command pilot in the Cessna 182T he flies out of KSSF.
