Southeast Texas Regional Wing

Scott Humphries

Scott Humphries started flying for Angel Flight in 2004 as a meaningful use of his pilot’s license. He quickly discovered that it was not all about the flying. Over the years, he’s deeply appreciated the rich perspectives his Angel Flight passengers have shared about life, living, and laughing.

Scott was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in a small town outside of Houston. After college in Austin and law school in Boston, he married his law school sweetheart, Stacy, and they have two boys, Jackson and Sam. Scott practiced commercial trial law with the boutique Houston law firm Gibbs & Bruns LLP for 25 years before retiring as the firm’s managing partner in 2020. He remains an active lawyer and arbitrator, part-time.

Scott earned his pilot’s license in 1992 and now holds a commercial pilot certificate with instrument and multi-engine ratings. Currently, most often he flies a Beech Bonanza and a Piper Mirage, based at Houston Southwest Airport (AXH). In 2020, he started Humphries Aviation LLC to fly commercial sightseeing tours and sunset flights in Houston, as well as to provide contract pilot and airplane ferry services.  While he enjoys all kinds of flying adventures, Scott’s travels as an Angel Flight pilot have been – and continue to be – some of the most rewarding hours in his logbook.

As Angel Flight’s Southeast Texas Wing Leader, Scott hopes to export his enthusiasm for Angel Flight’s mission to the Wing’s current pilots and incoming recruits; to MD Anderson and the Houston medical community; and to friends and potential friends of Angel Flight, anywhere and everywhere.
